There are some fine new releases for 23 October. If you like your pop witty and exceptionally well crafted then Paul Heaton and Jacqueline Abbot’s new release, Wisdom, Laughter and Lines, is for you. Joanna Newsom’s latest, Divers, continues prove what a singular songwriter she is. Killing Joke’s Pylon snarls in all the right places, three of a-ha’s classic albums are being reissued with extra tracks, Tracey Thorn has a very nice retrospective releases drawing together her work from 1982 until today, and veteran bluesman Walter Trout returns with the appropriately titled Battle Scars. Release of the week is the mighty Mogwai’s Central Belters, an enticing mix of old favourites and rarities across either 3 CDs or 6 LPs. Lovely!!
