This week’s featured new releases are:
Green Lung Necropolitan
One of the best rock bands out there, and going from strength to strength. Think Sabbath but younger and you are there. Excellent live, too. Gone are the days of seeing them in small venues. Really looking forward to this one, even if I will be somewhere in France when it is released. Might even be a very little gift included by the band with purchases of the album – hopefully they will arrive in time and there will be enough to go round!
Bonobo Distance in Static
Electronic and chilled ambient sounds. Various vocal collaborations in various different languages. Perfect end-of-summer vibe.
Ezra Collective Here Because of Hope
Split into three spiritual and geographical movements, the album traces the movement of black people across continents and decades, from the music of Africa to the rhythms of the Caribbean and home to the streets of London. Expect grooviness!
Bloc Party Anatomy of a Brief Romance
A narrative work examining a year-long relationship in intimate and often brutal detail, realised in the studio with the legendary Trevor Horn – yes, Buggles himself!
Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts Second Song
Second studio album from Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts. Semi-acoustic and featuring 7 new songs written by Neil Young. The 11-minute track available, ‘Second Song’, suggests good things.
Echo and The Bunnymen Apples for Issac
First new album from the band in ten years. Eagerly anticipated by a lot of people.
