Visionary Swedish singer-songwriter and producer Fever Ray has finally returned to us grateful fans with a splendid new long-playern some five years after their last outing (2017’s Plunge).
Radical Romantics is a return characterised with a somewhat darker and more brooding mood and feel. Now, I know what you’re thinking; yes, this work is most definitely drifting further and plunging deeper than what we recognise and love as The Knife but my golly-gosh, it is so very rewarding, slamming and sonically rich – it is fantastic! Fever Ray’s third album proper is a collaborative masterclass; an album that was conceived and written by siblings Karin & Olof Dreijer with some hefty ‘featurings’ from the likes of Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Nídia, Johannes Berglund, Peder Mannerfelt, Pär Grindvik, and Martin Falck. And let’s not forget that the debut track “Carbon Dioxide” features co-production duties by the thumping, gritty and generally brilliant Bristolian known as Vessel.
Note: The LP is initially available on limited-edition red vinyl.
