Releases for 10 & 17 December
Our pick of releases for 10 & 17 December opens with the extraordinary performance captured on An Orchestrated Songbook in which Paul Weller exquisitely reworked and updated a quintessential selection of his vast catalogue into 75 minutes of breath-taking music, including classic tracks from The Jam, Style Council and Paul’s solo career right up to his latest album, all given the most sublime orchestral treatments and with guest performances from Celeste, James Morrison and Boy George. BBC Sessions documents the 16 tracks Green Day recorded in the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios in London between 1994 and 2001 in live sessions for Steve Lamacq’s ‘Evening Show’ on Radio 1, all of which are being released for the first time. “And now … we present to you the one and only, the Originator, the Godfather, Daddy U Roy!” There was something special about the balmy night in August 2017 when U Roy walked out on stage at the Komedia to a hero’s welcome and immediately got the crowd cheering and dancing, and the warmth and excitement of that night is captured on this final live album of the reggae superstar’s illustrious career. Fever Dreams Pt 2 previews four brand-new tracks that make up the second quarter of Johnny Marr’s forthcoming double album, highlighting the sheer sonic scale of the album. The EP is released on transparent violet vinyl, exclusively through UK RSD Stores, and limited to 750 copies. 25 years since Jamiroquai released Travelling Without Moving into the world, featuring the classic singles ‘Virtual Insanity’ and ‘Cosmic Girl’, this seminal funk-pop classic gets a reissue in a special edition on yellow vinyl.
Our release of the week is Barn, the new studio album from Neil Young & Crazy Horse – recorded in a barn, high in the mountains of Colorado – featuring 10 new songs that capture the raw, idiosyncratic rock and roll spirit and lyrical beauty that epitomises a classic Neil Young Crazy Horse collaboration. “The Horse is back in the barn, shaking off the rust,” wrote Young in an Archives update.
- 10 December: Barn, the new studio album from Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Billy Talbot, Ralph Molina and Nils Lofgren – features 10 new songs that capture the raw, idiosyncratic rock and roll spirit and lyrical beauty that epitomises a classic Neil Young Crazy Horse collaboration. The recording process informed the title: the album was recorded in a barn, high in the mountains of Colorado, a replica built to replace an original barn that collapsed in 1850.
- “The Horse is back in the barn, shaking off the rust,” wrote Young in an Archives update. “It has been a long time since we have been together and more than a few tears have been shed. These are new times, with new songs and feelings after what our world has been through and continues to face.”
- 10 December: This extraordinary performance was a first for Paul Weller, performing with a full orchestra, and saw a quintessential selection of his vast catalogue exquisitely reworked and updated into 75 minutes of breath-taking music that was broadcast by the BBC.
- The set list includes classic tracks from The Jam, Style Council and Paul’s solo career. It also features choice cuts from Paul’s last three studio albums, including his recent No 1 albums On Sunset and Fat Pop Volume 1. All tracks are given the most sublime orchestral treatments. Conductor Jules Buckley has clearly done his homework with a stunning atmospheric interpretation of The Jam’s ‘English Rose’ with sweeping strings showcasing its sparse beauty. Special guest Celeste adds even more elegance to the classic ‘Wild Wood’, while fan favourite ‘Broken Stones’ soulfully shimmers with a scene-stealing guest duet performance from James Morrison. To top things off, national treasure Boy George joins Paul for a version of The Style Council’s hit single ‘You’re The Best Thing’. The set comes to a close with sublime versions of the classic ‘You Do Something To Me’ and the majestic ‘White Horses’ from the album True Meanings.
- 10 December: Between 1994 and 2001, Green Day visited the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios in London four times to record live sessions for Steve Lamacq’s ‘Evening Show’ on Radio 1. BBC Sessions documents those sessions with 16 tracks, all of which are being released for the first time.
- 10 December: “And now for a gentleman who’s come all the way from Kingston, Jamaica and a place called Cling Cling Avenue. We present to you the one and only, the Originator, the Godfather, Daddy U Roy!”
- U Roy had visited Brighton before but there was something special about that balmy night in August 2017, when he walked out on stage at the Komedia to a hero’s welcome and immediately got the crowd cheering and dancing. There was so much warmth and excitement generated that night, and it’s all captured on this final live album of the reggae superstar’s illustrious career.
- 17 December: Fever Dreams Pt 2 previews four brand-new tracks – ‘Sensory Street’, ‘Tenement Time’, ‘Lightning People’ and ‘Hideaway Girl’ – that make up the second quarter of Johnny Marr’s forthcoming double album, Fever Dreams Pts 1-4. ‘Sensory Street’ follows on electro-soul album opener ‘Spirit, Power and Soul’s anthemic strand, a startling track with strident electronics, whilst ‘Tenement Time’ marks the end of the double album’s first half; a rousing, reflective creation fusing sonic power with an emotional potency. Both highlight the sheer sonic scale of the album. The EP is released on transparent violet vinyl, exclusively through UK RSD Stores – limited to 750 copies.
- 17 December: 2021 marks 25 years since Jamiroquai released their seminal funk-pop classic Travelling Without Moving into the world, featuring the classic singles ‘Virtual Insanity’ and ‘Cosmic Girl’. The album has since sold over 8 million sales worldwide, making it the best-selling funk record of all time and cementing Jamiroquai into the musical landscape. A special edition yellow-vinyl re-issue is being released to mark this anniversary.
Releases for 3 December 2021
We kick off 3 December’s best with the unique Intra-I, an uplifting celebration of black music on which the young tuba virtuoso Theon Cross (a core member of Sons Of Kemet) melds jazz with dub, hip-hop, soca, grime and other sounds connected to the Afro-Caribbean diaspora, given an extra dimension by guest vocalists including Remi Graves, Shumba Maasai, Afronaut Zu, Ahnansé, Consensus and Oren Marshall. Exploring the human and emotional consequences of life surrounded by data, Overflow, the new album from Rival Consoles (aka Ryan Lee West), echoes the concept of social media, advertising, marketing companies and political factions exploiting our data to gain wealth, political advantage and sow division. Live In Brighton 1975 is the second in a curated series of Can live concerts, carefully restored to bringing Can’s astonishing performance to life, complemented by extensive new sleeve notes. A groundbreaking collaborative documentary, 101 was co-directed by acclaimed husband-and-wife filmmaking team D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus with active creative input from Depeche Mode, now meticulously upgraded using 4k scans of the original film reels and released with a host of extras. Communards celebrate the 35th anniversary of their debut album, including the hit single ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’, with a reissue on limited-edition gatefold vinyl with new sleeve notes, and an expanded CD version featuring rarities including B-sides, remixes and a BBC radio session.
Our release of the week is Glasvegas’s triumphant fourth album, Godspeed – the music we all need right now. The album presents a fragmented portrait of a single evening’s events that James Allan half-jokingly compares to American Graffiti, George Lucas’ 1973 coming-of-age classic, “where everything happens in one night, and nothing major goes down plot-wise, but you still love the characters and the world.” Each song in its own right is as diverse as the next, pulling James into each world with free reign to experiment in this latest masterpiece.
- Glasvegas return with their triumphant fourth album, Godspeed – the music we all need right now. The latest single ‘Shake The Cage (für Theo)’ sums up the dazzlingly eclectic sound of Godspeed perfectly – this is an electronic barrage with devastatingly powerful spoken word lyrics that call to mind ‘I’m Gonna Get Stabbed’ from the band’s astonishing debut.
- Intra-I is an uplifting celebration of black music that, thanks to Theon Cross’s pioneering approach, helps to redefine the sonic possibilities of the tuba. Reflecting his own heritage, the young virtuoso melds jazz with dub, hip-hop, soca, grime and other sounds connected to the Afro-Caribbean diaspora. This is Cross’ first music to include collaborations with guest vocalists – including Remi Graves, Shumba Maasai, Afronaut Zu, Ahnansé, Consensus and Oren Marshall – and this adds a further new dimension.
- Theon Cross is at the forefront of the thriving London jazz scene. In 2015 he released the EP Aspirations, and followed it in 2019 with his acclaimed debut solo album, Fyah. In addition to his solo endeavours, Cross is a core member of Mercury nominated group Sons Of Kemet.
- Exploring themes of the human and emotional consequences of life surrounded by data, Overflow, the new album from Rival Consoles (aka Ryan Lee West), echoes the concept of social media, advertising, marketing companies and political factions exploiting our data to gain wealth, political advantage and sow division. Key reading for the project was based around the contemporary philosophical work Psychopolitics: Neoliberalism and New Technologies of Power by Byung-Chul Han.
- “The piece opens with ‘Monster’, which has a kind of drunken madness to it, highly repetitive to mirror the repetitive nature of how we as humans engage with technology such as social media. It’s sometimes edging towards chaos but yet always returning back to the same starting point, but eventually giving way to exhaustion. I wanted to create a bold opening piece for Overflow,” states West.
- Live In Brighton 1975 is the second in a curated series of Can live concerts. Originally recorded on tape, this carefully restored live album comprises the entirety of the show in the format of a story with a beginning, middle and end, bringing Can’s astonishing performance to life. The release includes a booklet containing extensive new notes by journalist and authors Kriss Needs and Rob Young.
- A groundbreaking collaborative documentary, 101 was co-directed by acclaimed husband-and-wife filmmaking team D.A. Pennebaker (Don’t Look Back) and Chris Hegedus (The War Room) with active creative input from Depeche Mode, who had held an exclusive contest for fans offering an appearance in a Depeche Mode movie as the prize. 101’s narrative through-line of contest winners travelling across America to attend Depeche Mode’s landmark Rose Bowl concert is a cinematic precursor to the youth culture trend in ‘reality TV’ programming. 101 captures the electrifying synergy between the band and their fans.
- This new edition has been meticulously upgraded using 4k scans of the original film reels. The blu-ray includes three previously unseen bonus performances of ‘A Question Of Lust’, ‘Sacred’ and ‘Something To Do’ plus the official promotional video for ‘Everything Counts’. The all-encompassing deluxe box set includes the Blu-ray, 2 DVDs, 2 CDs containing a host of bonus materials, plus a photo book, poster and download card.
- Communards celebrate the 35th anniversary of their debut album with a reissue on limited-edition gatefold vinyl with new sleeve notes, and an expanded CD version featuring rarities including B-sides, remixes and a BBC radio session. On its original release in 1986, the hit single ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’ had a four-week run at number one, and the album itself reached a chart peak of number seven, going on to spend a total of 45 weeks in the UK albums chart.

Henki is the epic joint record from diminutive Geordie troubadour Richard Dawson and genre-straddling Finnish metalllers Circle – dealing with special plants throughout history, it’s the greatest flora-themed hypno-folk-metal record you’ll hear this year! Finally, the beautiful simplicity of the bangers on Doom Crew Inc. by Black Label Society is summed up by guitarist Zakk Wylde: “Less is more with everything,” he says. “Except the guitar solos.”
Our release of the week is The Path Of The Clouds, the most stylistically adventurous, lyrically transfixing and melodically sophisticated album in Marissa Nadler’s already rich discography. It’s a stunning set of songs about metamorphosis, love, mysticism, and murder, blurring the line between reality and fantasy and moving freely between past and present over 11 deeply personal self-produced songs.
- The Path Of The Clouds, the ninth solo album from Marissa Nadler, is the most stylistically adventurous, lyrically transfixing and melodically sophisticated collection of songs in her already rich discography. Gripped by wanderlust while suddenly housebound at the start of the pandemic in 2020, Nadler escaped into writing, and came back with a stunning set of songs about metamorphosis, love, mysticism, and murder. Blurring the line between reality and fantasy and moving freely between past and present, these 11 deeply personal self-produced songs find Nadler exploring new landscapes, both sonic and emotional.
- In late October 2019, following a successful UK tour ending in a sold-out concert at the mythical Roundhouse in London, SUNN O))) entered studio 4 at BBC Maida Vale on invitation to record a live session for Mary Anne Hobbs to be broadcast on Samhain. In this temple of music and experimentation, liberty in ideas and sound, the band reworked ‘Troubled Air’ and ‘Pyroclasts’, with Anna von Hausswolff joining them on keyboards and vocals.

- Henki is the epic joint record from diminutive Geordie troubadour Richard Dawson and Circle, the genre-straddling pioneers of the new wave of Finnish heavy metal. Unlike any metal album you have heard before, Henki’s seven tracks deal with special plants throughout history, making it the greatest flora-themed hypno-folk-metal record you’ll hear this year.
- Doom Crew Inc. sees Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde trading solos and twin-guitar parts with Dario Lorina, backed by the rumble of longtime bassist John ‘J.D.’ DeServio and powerhouse drummer Jeff Fabb. Like every Black Label Society album since 2010, the band recorded Doom Crew Inc. at Zakk’s home studio, aka the Black Vatican. The beautiful simplicity of BLS bangers owes everything to the lessons Wylde first heard on Sabbath’s We Sold Our Soul For Rock N’ Roll. “Less is more with everything,” he says. “Except the guitar solos.”
Releases for 19 November 2021
19 November’s key releases open with Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, who have reunited 14 years after the historic success of Raising Sand for Raise The Roof, once again produced by T Bone Burnett and backed by some class musicians. This year marks 25 years since Oasis’ two iconic, record-breaking live concerts at Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire in August 1996 – the pinnacle of the band’s success and a landmark gathering for a generation of young people. Oasis Knebworth 1996 is the definitive live recording, featuring a set list packed with stone-cold classics taken from across both nights of the concert. 30 is the first new music from Adele since the release of her third studio album, 25, in November 2015. The album is produced with former collaborators Greg Kurstin, Max Martin and Shellback and Tobias Jesso Jr., as well as new collaborators Inflo and Ludwig Goransson. Elbow wrote their ninth studio album, Flying Dream 1, remotely in their home studios before coming together at the empty Theatre Royal in Brighton to perfect, perform, and record the songs. And while the rest of the world was put on hold, alt-rock stalwarts The Sherlocks underwent a rebirth, with two new band members joining, and World I Understand stands as the band’s most unshackled and ambitious album to date.
Our release of the week is The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts, which were performed over two nights by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band at the September 1979 MUSE (Musicians United for Safe Energy) benefit concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and which have been newly remixed and remastered and accompanied by plenty of goodies.
- The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts were performed over two nights by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band at the September 1979 MUSE (Musicians United for Safe Energy) benefit concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The 13-song set has been newly remixed and remastered for this release, which also includes a 24-page book containing an essay, rare photos and memorabilia.
- Robert Plant & Alison Krauss have reunited some fourteen years after the historic success of their first collaboration, Raising Sand (2007), which reached #2 on the UK album chart, generated multi-platinum sales and earned six Grammy awards including Album of the Year. Like its predecessor, Raise The Roof was produced by T Bone Burnett, who worked with Plant and Krauss to expand their collaboration in thrilling new directions, accompanied by drummer Jay Bellerose, guitarists Marc Ribot, David Hidalgo, Bill Frisell, and Buddy Miller, bassists Dennis Crouch and Viktor Krauss, pedal steel guitarist Russ Pahl and others.
- This year marks 25 years since Oasis’ two iconic, record-breaking live concerts at Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire on 10 and 11 August 1996. The shows were both the pinnacle of the band’s success and a landmark gathering for a generation of young people.
- Released alongside the cinema debut of a feature-length documentary film of the event, Oasis Knebworth 1996 is the definitive live recording, featuring a set list packed with stone-cold classics taken from across both nights of the concert, from the opening salvoes of ‘Columbia’ and ‘Acquiesce’ to ‘Champagne Supernova’, ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’, ‘Live Forever’, an orchestra-backed ‘I Am The Walrus’, and ‘Wonderwall’, the first song from the 1990s to reach over one billion streams on Spotify and a universally loved anthem.
- 30 is the first new music from Adele since the release of her third studio album, 25, in November 2015. The album is produced with former collaborators Greg Kurstin, Max Martin and Shellback and Tobias Jesso Jr., as well as new collaborators Inflo and Ludwig Goransson.

Working closely alongside Manic Street Preachers producer Dave Eringa, World I Understand stands as The Sherlocks’ most unshackled and ambitious album to date.
Releases for 12 November 2021
First of 12 November’s bundle of goodies is Crawler, the new album from IDLES: an album of reflection and healing amid a worldwide pandemic that stretched the planet’s collective mental and physical health to the breaking point that manages to juxtapose beauty and rage with humour and drama. The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows was originally intended by Damon Albarn as an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland, but lockdown prompted him to develop the work into a panoramic collection of songs that explore themes of fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth. Music For Psychedelic Therapy faces the opposite direction from Jon Hopkins’ lauded albums Immunity and Singularity; trying to make something egoless and introspective, he visited Tayos Caves in Ecuador and improvised while listening to Ram Dass. Commemorating the 30th anniversary of Nirvana’s seminal 1991 release, Nevermind, this timely reissue contains the album newly remastered from the original analogue tapes along with a wealth of extras. Delayed from September, Kids Off The Estate is the eagerly awaited debut album from South Yorkshire band The Reytons, and it fairly bursts with working-man grit and tales from the local boozer married with infectious riffs and refreshingly honest melodies that will travel round your mind for years to come.
Our release of the week, Things Take Time, Take Time, is an assured leap forward for Courtney Barnett; a breakthrough really. This is Barnett at her most relaxed, creative and joyful. It’s exquisite look at the intimate, private world created by Barnett and her producer Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint, Sharon Van Etten, Kurt Vile), and consequently her most beautiful and intimate record to date.
- Things Take Time, Take Time is an assured leap forward for Courtney Barnett; a breakthrough really. This is Barnett at her most relaxed, creative and joyful. It’s exquisite look at the intimate, private world created by Barnett and her producer Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint, Sharon Van Etten, Kurt Vile), and consequently her most beautiful and intimate record to date.
- IDLES return with their new album, Crawler – an album of reflection and healing amid a worldwide pandemic that stretched the planet’s collective mental and physical health to the breaking point. Frontman Joe Talbot says: “We want people who’ve gone through trauma, heartbreak, and loss to feel like they’re not alone, and also how it is possible to reclaim joy from those experiences.” IDLES albums have always been anchored by these overarching themes, but the ability of the band to juxtapose beauty and rage with humour and drama has never felt more satisfying than on Crawler.
- The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows, the new studio album from Damon Albarn, was originally intended as an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland. This last year has seen Albarn return to the music in lockdown and develop the work to 11 tracks which further explore themes of fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth. “I have been on my own dark journey while making this record and it led me to believe that a pure source might still exist,” he says. The result is a panoramic collection of songs with Albarn as storyteller. The album title is taken from the John Clare poem ‘Love and Memory’.
- Music For Psychedelic Therapy is Jon Hopkins’ first full-length since sister albums Immunity (2013) and the Grammy-nominated Singularity (2018). For this collection, Hopkins wanted to make something that faced the opposite direction, something egoless and introspective, made with total, raw honesty. “It felt like time for a reset, to wait for music to appear from a different place,” says Hopkins. That place ended up being Tayos Caves in Ecuador, where Hopkins went on a life-changing creative expedition in 2018.
- “‘Sit Around The Fire’ exists from one of the deep synchronicities that ushered this album into being,” comments Hopkins. “I was contacted by East Forest, who had spent some time with Ram Dass in Hawaii before he passed. He was given access to several lesser-heard talks from the 70s, and asked to set them to music. He sent me some starting points, including the beautiful choral vocals he recorded which open the piece. I put my headphones on and with Ram Dass’ voice inside my head, I sat at the piano and improvised. What you hear is the first thing that came out – it just appeared in response to the words.”
- Note: The LP will be released on 22 February 2022.
- Commemorating the 30th anniversary of Nirvana’s seminal 1991 release, Nevermind, this timely reissue contains the album newly remastered from the original analogue tapes along with a wealth of extras:
- The 2-CD version adds selections from 4 concerts on the Nevermind tour from Amsterdam, Del Mar, Melbourne and Tokyo.
- The LP + 7" version is housed in a premium tip-on gatefold jacket and includes a first-ever 7" release for ‘Endless, Nameless’ with B-sides ‘Even In His Youth’ and ‘Aneurysm’.
- The super-deluxe digital version contains 5 CDs showcasing the album along with the complete concert recordings from Amsterdam, Del Mar, Melbourne and Tokyo. Additionally, a Blu-ray of the complete Amsterdam concert video, newly remastered in HD, is included along with a 40-page hardcover book with unreleased photos.
- The super-deluxe vinyl version contains 8 180-gram LPs showcasing the album plus the complete concert recordings from Amsterdam, Del Mar, Melbourne and Tokyo. Also included is a first-ever 7" release for ‘Endless, Nameless’ with B-sides ‘Even In His Youth’ and ‘Aneurysm’, and a 40-page hardcover book with unreleased photos.
- Note: The 8-LP super-deluxe edition will be released 27 May 2022.
- South Yorkshire band The Reytons (the ‘right ones’ to those from out of town) bring us their eagerly awaited debut album Kids Off The Estate. Produced by David Watts at Chairworks Studios, deep in the heart of Yorkshire, this album is bursting with working-man grit and tales from the local boozer. Expect infectious riffs and refreshingly honest melodies that will travel round your mind for years to come.
Releases for 5 November 2021
We light the touchpaper on 5 November’s firecrackers with Kid A Mnesia, which collects Radiohead’s fourth and fifth albums alongside the debut of Kid Amnesiae, a disc full out out-takes and bonus material including some never-before-heard tracks. One of the most anticipated follow-ups in indie-rock, Valentine was written and produced by Lindsey Jordan, aka Snail Mail, and it’s filled with romance, heartbreak, blood, sweat and tears. In 1999–2000, British label Ruff Cutt released two acclaimed, revolutionary singles by The Mighty Diamonds, one of Jamaica’s greatest-ever vocal trios, and Better Days presents these alongside three previously unreleased tracks from the same sessions, each with a matching dub – this is top-quality nineties’ roots music. Despite having released twelve albums in the last eighteen years, Marconi Union continue to experiment and push boundaries, and Signals, their follow-up to the largely beat-less Dead Air, is inspired and shaped by drumming. Finally, Diana Ross sings Thank You to the world in a powerful, inclusive musical message of love and togetherness – songs of happiness, appreciation and joy.
There’s only one possible choice of release of the week, as – an incredible 40 years since their last studio album – ABBA are back! And Voyage, the quartet’s new album, is sure to delight their many fans.
- An incredible 40 years since their last studio album, The Visitors, ABBA are back! Not only have they have announced a revolutionary new concert in which Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid will perform digitally with a live 10-piece band in a purpose-built arena in London, but they have recorded and produced an entire new album. And Voyage is sure to delight the quartet’s many fans.
- Kid A Mnesia collects Radiohead’s fourth and fifth albums alongside the debut of a newly compiled third disc titled Kid Amnesiae. Exclusive to this release, Kid Amnesiae comprises material unearthed from the Kid A and Amnesiac sessions. Along with alternate versions and elements of Kid A and Amnesiac album tracks and B-sides, Kid Amnesiae features the never-before-heard ‘If You Say the Word’ and a previously unreleased studio recording of ‘Follow Me Around’.
- One of the most anticipated follow-ups in indie-rock, Valentine was written and produced by Lindsey Jordan, aka Snail Mail, and co-produced by Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Waxahatchee). The album, written in 2019–20, is filled with romance, heartbreak, blood, sweat and tears.
- The Mighty Diamonds are among Jamaica’s greatest-ever vocal trios, which is quite an accolade considering that the competition includes the Wailers, Heptones, early Burning Spear and Culture. In 1999–2000, British label Ruff Cutt released two singles with them: ‘White Squall’ and ‘Better Days’. Both were immediately hailed by fans who rejoiced at hearing the Diamonds in such revolutionary mood. Those songs now make their return here alongside three previously unreleased tracks from the same sessions, and all five are accompanied by matching dubs that were the equal of anything coming from Jamaica at the time. Over twenty years later and Better Days have come at last, for fans of the Diamonds and top-quality nineties’ roots music.
- Signals is the latest addition to Marconi Union’s highly acclaimed discography. Despite having released twelve albums in the last eighteen years they continue to experiment and push boundaries. “In some respects Signals is a more traditional songwriting album than anything we’ve done before, but it draws on the same techniques we’ve used on our previous albums.” After their previous album, the largely beat-less Dead Air, one might think that Marconi Union would be primarily influenced by synth players or guitarists. However, it turns out that Signals was actually informed by the bands’ admiration of a number of different drummers and this played a significant part in helping shape its sound.
- Diana Ross sings ‘thank you’ to the world. “This collection of songs is my gift to you with appreciation and love. I am eternally grateful that I had the opportunity to record this glorious music at this time,” says Ms Ross. Recorded in her home studio, Thank You offers a powerful, inclusive musical message of love and togetherness. With its songs of happiness, appreciation and joy, it wholeheartedly acknowledges that we are in this all together. Her family, friends and loyal and loving audiences all around the globe have been an integral part of her wonderful life’s story. In this special moment, it is time to step into the light.
