This week sees the pace of new releases drop slightly, but there are still some belters due out on 9th October. This week’s eclectic selection starts with Jesse Malin, who returns with a fine effort, Outsiders. I have fallen in love with Israel Nash’s Silver Season – a fine example of cosmic American music. Small Faces have a 5-CD box set covering their Decca Years; Tom Jones releases Long Lost Suitcase, the final effort in his trilogy and his first since 2012’s Spirit in the Room; Reverend & The Makers’ Mirrors has been described by no less an authority than Carl Barât as their magnum opus; Nigel Kennedy gives Vivaldi’s Four Seasons a fresh perspective; and there are vinyl reissues of four of Status Quo’s early albums. However, releases of the week is John Grant’s Grey Tickles, Black Pressure – and mighty fine it is too!
