Well that was a lot of fun!
Thank you to everyone who chose Hundred Records as their shop of choice for this year’s Record Store Day. Massive respect to the hard-core lot who camped out overnight, with a special shout-out to David M, who arrived at 2pm! I left here at 8.30 on Friday night and there were already 11 queuing outside, including two lads who had travelled down from Basingstoke.
The sight that greeted Alix and me as we walked around the corner at 6 in the morning was wonderful. Our crack team of RSD helpers was soon handing out hot drinks and pastries to the waiting masses, which seemed to go down well again, literally and metaphorically.

We picked and bagged the wants for the first 15 in the queue ready to go at 8am. Once the doors opened, it was one in, one out, perfectly marshalled by Simon on the door. He did a magnificent job – thank you so much. From then on it was fairly manic in here and we hopefully got everyone in and out in a reasonably orderly manner! I hope you all liked the newly branded tote bags, they all went on the day and I have more coming, hopefully by the end of the month.
Overall, we all had a blast this year and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible support shown to us by all of you who came down and queued so patiently. It was only my second RSD behind the counter and it was more successful and a lot smoother than last year, so thank you!! Same time next year?
Big thanks and much love to Alix, Jo, Hannah and Simon J for all their incredible help and laughs throughout the day.
There are still some items in store and available online if you want a more leisurely browse. Some RSD releases are still available to order from the suppliers, so if there is something you missed out on then give me a shout and I will have a look for you.
