First up for release on 19 August<\/strong> is Slow Club<\/strong>\u2019s cheerily titled One Day All Of This Won\u2019t Matter Any More<\/em><\/strong>, which contains more of their gorgeous melodies. John Paul White<\/strong> releases his first solo album since the break up of the much loved Civil Wars; titled Beulah<\/em><\/strong>, this is a triumph of dark southern American gothic folk. Ed Harcourt<\/strong>\u2019s seventh album, Furnaces<\/em><\/strong>, somehow manages to be both full of fire and brimstone and euphoric and celebratory all at the same time. Lisa Hannigan<\/strong>\u2019s third solo effort, At Swim<\/em><\/strong>, is an album about isolation and love. A complete change of pace comes courtesy of Sabaton<\/strong>\u2019s The Last Stand<\/em><\/strong>; \u2018heroic metal\u2019 describes it perfectly. Blood Orange<\/strong>\u2019s Freetown Sound<\/em><\/strong>, which features a host of collaborators, is a musical tour de force \u2013 simple. Scott Walker<\/strong> follows his astonishing album with Sunn 0))) with an equally astonishing soundtrack, The Childhood Of A Leader<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Album of the week from a fine field this week is Ryley Walker<\/strong>\u2019s Golden Sings That Have Been Sung<\/em><\/strong>, words that came to mind whilst listening: it\u2019s supple, shimmering, intriguing and surreal.<\/p>\n
