{"id":351,"date":"2015-07-13T15:37:49","date_gmt":"2015-07-13T14:37:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hundredrecords.com\/blog\/?p=351"},"modified":"2017-02-09T17:11:57","modified_gmt":"2017-02-09T17:11:57","slug":"beggars-fair-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hundredrecords.com\/blog\/beggars-fair-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"The Beggars Fair, 12 July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We had a fabulous afternoon at Hundred Records\u2019 first Beggars Fair, with four very different performances.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hundredrecords.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/crowd.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-353\" src=\"\/img\/events\/beggarsfair\/2015\/crowd.jpg\" alt=\"crowd\" width=\"600\" height=\"443\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First up was ex-music journalist <strong>Martin James<\/strong>, now a professor of journalism, who read from his new book about Dave Grohl and also provided some frankly scary stories about Iggy Pop and Ice-T, among others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tom Lowman<\/strong> then got the music off to a great start, and the temperature rising, along with his talented band. He was followed by Hundred Records favourites <strong>A Formal Horse,<\/strong> complete with New Improved Backdrop!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_355\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-355\" style=\"width: 540px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-355\" src=\"\/img\/events\/beggarsfair\/2015\/aformalhorse.jpg\" alt=\"A Formal Horse gave a set of acoustic prog rock!\" width=\"540\" height=\"368\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-355\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A Formal Horse<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The day was finished off by <strong>Vicki Musselwhite<\/strong>, who gave us a sadly curtailed set (we hit closing time too soon!) which really showcased her mature songwriting and her astonishing voice.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QHh1cUKR4SM?rel=0&amp;controls=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_354\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-354\" style=\"width: 338px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-354\" src=\"\/img\/events\/beggarsfair\/2015\/vickim.jpg\" alt=\"Vicki Musselwhite enchants with her deft songwriting and wonderful voice\" width=\"338\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-354\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vicki Musselwhite<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Huge thanks to all the artists who performed for us, and to everyone who came to listen to them.
