Our fantastic five for 3 July<\/strong> start with A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip<\/em><\/strong>, the latest from propulsive pop perennials Sparks<\/strong> \u2013 brothers Ron and Russell Mael \u2013 lift the lid on their new album, A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip<\/em><\/strong>, with the release of \u2018Self-Effacing\u2019, in which the evergreen masters of the musical vignette show no loss of appetite for their singular sonic adventures.<\/p>\n

A follow-up to 2018\u2019s Jazz On The Corner<\/em>, which has now sold over 10,000 copies, and last year\u2019s equally successful Soul On The Corner<\/em>, this compilation sees Martin Freeman<\/strong> and Eddie Piller<\/strong> return to the world of jazz for another bite at the cherry after volume one was declared to be \u201cthe best jazz compilation of the last 20 years\u201d<\/em> by Jazz FM\u2019s Chris Phillips.<\/p>\n

Available on double clear vinyl and double CD, this expanded reissue of The Charlatans<\/strong>\u2019s classic album Between 10th & 11th<\/em><\/strong> contains the original album plus remastered tracks from the oft-bootlegged live show from Chicago in 1991, known as Isolation 21.2.91, a holy grail amongst fans.<\/p>\n

Bury Tomorrow<\/strong>\u2019s 2018 album Black Flame<\/em> catapulted them into metal\u2019s upper echelons. It was the band\u2019s third consecutive UK Top 40 album and saw them undertake an imposing tour, which culminated with a huge show at London\u2019s iconic Roundhouse. But with follow-up, Cannibal<\/em><\/strong>, the band have taken another leap forward. To record it, they reunited with Black Flame<\/em> producer Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Young Guns), while mixing and mastering was completed by Adam \u2018Nolly\u2019 Getgood and Ermin Hamidovic, the dream team behind Architects\u2019 Holy Hell<\/em>. The result is Bury Tomorrow\u2019s most technical, anthemic album yet. While vocalist and lyricist Dani Winter Bates has long been one of metal\u2019s loudest advocates for the importance of discussing mental health, this time he\u2019s delved explicitly into his own experiences, writing his most brutally personal lyrics to date.<\/p>\n

Our release of the week is On Sunset<\/em><\/strong>, the fifteenth studio album by the English singer-songwriter and legend Paul Weller<\/strong>. It\u2019s at heart a soul album. At the same time, it\u2019s an electronic album, an orchestral album, an album packed with masterly pop songs and heart-tugging ballads, and an album filled with touches of experimentalism. It\u2019s also an album that sees Weller taking a rare glance into the rear-view mirror as he speeds into the 2020s.<\/p>\n
