Our six crackers for this week start with Nocturne \u2013 The Piano Album<\/em><\/strong>, a soothing collection of solo piano pieces by Vangelis<\/strong>, recorded in his inimitable style. The album features 11 new tracks as well as brand-new versions of iconic hits \u2018Chariots of Fire\u2019 and the \u2018Love Theme\u2019 from Blade Runner<\/em>. Nocturne<\/em> is Vangelis\u2019s first new album in two years, and the first time he has recorded himself playing a grand piano. It includes a host of new piano compositions inspired by night-time and his long-held passion for space. This is guaranteed to relax us all at a fraught time! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

British alt-rock legends Swervedriver<\/strong> release their brand-new album, Future Ruins<\/em><\/strong>. The record presents a band moving with real-time, real-life vitality, showcasing new tricks alongside classic hallmarks. Future Ruins<\/em>\n exhibits Swervedriver\u2019s fabled widescreen escapism, but with a tension \nthat echoes the sleeve image of Coney Island in skeletal monochrome, \nlike a post-mortem photograph of a failed utopia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

American blues-rock maestros Rival Sons<\/strong> release their sixth album, Feral Roots<\/em><\/strong>. Singer Jay Buchanan said of the forthcoming LP: \u201cThe\n primal intensity reflects a certain unrest at the heart of the album. \nWith its nuanced explorations of both the wild and domestic struggles of\n love and truth, the album ultimately argues for pushing beyond pure \nsurvival instincts and striving for something more exalted: to reclaim a\n long diluted genre through a galvanizing return to form.<\/em>\u201d I\u2019m not sure exactly what that means, but the album is great! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hot on the heels of their acclaimed 2016 album Bounce<\/em>, The Beat<\/strong> featuring Ranking Roger<\/strong> release a brand-new album, Public Confidential<\/em><\/strong>. This will delight all 2-Tone fans, who had to wait more than 30 years after 1982\u2019s Special Beat Service<\/em> for a new album by the band. Public Confidential<\/em>\n continues to showcase the band at their joyful skanking best with 10 \nbrand-new songs. The whole album is chock-full of catchy, bass-led \nreggae ska tunes pointing the finger at the mess of current politics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shimmer Into Nature<\/em><\/strong> is the debut solo album by Ed Wynne<\/strong>,\n psychedelic visionary and founder of the legendary Ozric Tentacles. \nWynne is undoubtedly a gifted instrumentalist, a prodigal symphonist and\n one of the UK\u2019s most influential musicians. He is credited as one of \nthe lynchpins of the re-emergence of the UK festival scene with Ozric \nTentacles, who formed at Stonehenge Free Festival 1983 and became \nstaples of the Glastonbury Festival, with their most recent performance \nat Glastonbury in 2016 on the Glade stage. With an incredible flair for \ncreating masterful tapestries of sound, his debut solo album will be \nquick to take a hold on fans of psychedelic synth and rock music. Shimmer Into Nature<\/em>\n was recorded and inspired by the different locations to which Ed \ntravelled over three years, from deep in the Colorado Mountains, to the \ncoastlines of Cornwall and South Devon, before being completed on \nScotland\u2019s east coast by the Firth of Forth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our release of the week is At The Edge Of Light<\/em><\/strong>, the latest album from legendary former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett<\/strong>, which follows the tremendous success of 2017\u2019s The Night Siren<\/em>. The album features ten songs, over the course of which Steve unites a vast number of styles ranging from guitar-driven rock to epic orchestration, from world music to the reflective and atmospheric, all brought together in his unique style.<\/p>\n\n\n
