30th June<\/strong> brings a fantastically diverse selection of new releases.<\/p>\n

Following on from their acclaimed debut Elaenia<\/em>, Floating Points<\/strong> have created Reflections: Mojave Desert<\/em><\/strong>, an album inspired by and reflective of that singular location. Stone Sour<\/strong>\u2019s Hydrograd<\/em><\/strong> is straight-ahead rock\u2019n\u2019roll; Corey Taylor says \u201cIt\u2019s probably one of the best records we have done since the first Slipknot album,<\/em>\u201d and that\u2019s a good enough recommendation for us! C88<\/em><\/strong> is the latest in a series \u2013 a compilation of the best of obscure, tuneful indie from 1988, lovely. The Cure<\/strong> release both Greatest Hits<\/em><\/strong> and Acoustic Hits<\/em><\/strong> on LP, so if you didn\u2019t manage to snag the RSD pic-discs \u2013 or even if you did \u2013 these two are for you. Sonny Landreth<\/strong> lets us into his astonishing live shows on Recorded Live In Lafayette<\/em><\/strong>, a great intro to someone who deserves a wider audience, on which he displays his full repertoire of slide, blues and cajun fusion: slydeco, anyone? The ever-prolific Mark Kozelek<\/strong> has provided the words for the collaboration Yellow Kitchen<\/em><\/strong>, with Sean Yeaton<\/strong> (Parquet Woods) providing the music.<\/p>\n

Album of the week is How The West Was Won<\/em><\/strong> from rock\u2019n\u2019roll survivor Peter Perrett<\/strong> \u2013 his first new music in 20 years \u2013 on which he confirms that he has lost none of his incisive songwriting and sardonic wit since \u2018Another Girl, Another Planet\u2019. Recommended.<\/p>\n
