We have 8 lovely releases for 4 November<\/strong> to recommend to you.<\/p>\n

First, The Furrow Collective<\/strong>, featuring the golden voices and multi-instrumental prowess of Emily Portman, Rachel Newton and Lucy Farrell and Alasdair Roberts, release their second effort, Wild Hog<\/em><\/strong>, and it\u2019s one of the finest folk albums released this year \u2013 we saw them live last week and were just blown away. The formidable Honeyblood<\/strong> return with Babes Never Die<\/em><\/strong>; expect many a play on Radio 6 and many a mention in best of 2016 lists. The Kentucky Headhunters<\/strong> release On Safari<\/em><\/strong>, a big meaty slab of southern rock. Robbie Williams<\/strong>\u2019 Heavy Entertainment Show<\/em><\/strong> is, rather unbelievably, his 11th studio album, and includes collaborations with some proper songwriters in Guy Chambers, Brandon Flowers and Ed Sheeran. Todd Snider<\/strong> may well be unfamiliar to you, but he is one of America\u2019s sharpest and most provocative story-tellers; his latest, Eastside Bulldog<\/em><\/strong>, is a fine record in the folk-rock troubadour tradition. The Chris Robinson Brotherhood<\/strong> follow up quickly right on the heels of the fabulous Any Way You Love, We Know How You Feel<\/em> with a companion piece, If You Lived Here, You Would Be Home By Now<\/em><\/strong>. If you liked the first you\u2019ll love the second! The six sessions Queen<\/strong> recorded for the BBC between 1973 and 1977 finally see release in On Air<\/em><\/strong>. This period was arguably was peak Queen, and this collection is more than welcome.<\/p>\n

Album of the week is unlikely to be surpassed for surprise release of the year: Shirley Collins<\/strong>, legendary folk singer and song collector, brings us Lodestar<\/em><\/strong>, her first recordings since losing her voice with dystonia and withdrawing from performing 38 years ago<\/strong>. Folk singer and comedian Stewart Lee says of her: \u201cShirley is a time traveller, a conduit for essential human aches, one of the greatest artists who ever lived.<\/em>\u201d We can\u2019t put it better than that, so we won\u2019t try!<\/p>\n
