It\u2019s been harder than ever to whittle down the wealth of new releases out on 30 September<\/strong> to just 8 to recommend, but here we go! Sir Van Morrison<\/strong> possesses one of the finest voices in all music, and he uses it to good effect on his 35th studio album, Keep Me Singing<\/em><\/strong>. By way of a complete contrast, alt-rock superstars Pixies<\/strong> release their second post-reformation album, Head Carrier<\/em><\/strong>, and it\u2019s a monster! Opeth<\/strong> continue their journey from death metal to prog of the most engaging and intense type with the beautiful Sorceress<\/em><\/strong>, Slaves<\/strong> crank up the volume on their spirited and noisy second, Take Control<\/em><\/strong>, Ultimate Painting<\/strong>\u2019s third album, Dusk<\/em><\/strong>, is intricate, involving and lovely guitar pop, Regina Spektor<\/strong>\u2019s Remember Us To Life<\/em><\/strong>, her first for four years, is well worth the wait, and Joanne Shaw Taylor<\/strong>\u2019s Wild<\/em><\/strong> is just that: wild blues\/rock guitar and vocals which is a punch in the gut \u2013 in a nice way!<\/p>\n

Release of the week is Bon Iver<\/strong>\u2019s 22, A Million<\/em><\/strong>. Both album and tracks are oddly titled, but there\u2019s nothing at all odd about the result, and it comes highly recommended.<\/p>\n
