This week’s featured new releases are:
The Anchoress – As We Once Were
At last, the long-awaited follow-up to 2021’s The Art of Losing, which was a great album. I’ve seen her live a couple of times and I’m looking forward to this one. I’ve deliberately held off listening to anything from it so far, so you will just have to trust my judgement!
Steve Hogarth – Ice Cream Genius
The first and only solo album from the Marillion front-man – one of my favourite vocalists from one of my favourite bands – gets a welcome reissue. I was never not going to include this. First time on vinyl, and the CD + Blu-ray box set contains live gigs and loads of unreleased material.
Man/Woman/Chainsaw – Cannonball
The debut album from this up-and-coming band has been getting a lot of attention in all the right places.
Katatonia – The Fall of Hearts (10th Anniversary Edition)
A lovely reissue from the Swedish prog-metal titans. Absolutely love Jonas’ voice. I’ll be seeing them live this weekend in Halifax! Great music for the dark autumn nights, when they come.
Mountain Goats – The Days
Another new album from Mountain Goats – the last one was only November! That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though, and the three tracks currently available are all catchy three-minute songs.
Neil Jones & Nick Corbin – Silent Stream
Soulful jazz. Great for this weather! I’m getting a Weller feel from the tracks available.
