Self-titled as always, but known by the colour of the album – Gold. Sounds like Weezer, no new ground being broken here, but why fix something that isn’t broken!
Antony Szmierek Decoding Birdsong
Electronic and spoken word. Works well. Almost ’90s dance/rave music in feel.
Fletchr Fletchr On the Island We Call Home
One of the band is the nephew of one of our customers, Steve. Indie rock, but definitely not indie land-fill. Liking the two tracks available. Catchy.
Robyn Hitchcock The Confuser
There are some good tracks on his 25th solo album, and I can see it being played a lot in the shop. Art rock, hints of the Stones, hints of Lennon.
Westside Cowboy It Goes On
Got a few orders for this one. Alternative rock with an Americana feel. I’ve seen it described as Britannicana – not sure that’s necessary. Unsurprisingly, better than the Strokes.
CSS Cansei De Ser Sexy (20th anniversary edition)
From Brazil. Lots going on. Funky in parts, with rock, electro, a few kitchen sinks. Frankly it’s wonderful. Why have I never heard it before??
