There are some great new releases for 2nd October – unusually for the first week of the month. Mercury Rev return with a fine new album, and the brilliantly named Eagles of Death Metal – don’t worry, it’s rock not death metal! – have a new one. The hardest-working man in blues, Joe Bonamassa, has a new live album recorded at The Radio City Music Hall in New York. Clutch bring us the appropriately named Psychic Warfare, and Squeeze are back! Cradle To Grave comes with the enormous benefit, in my book, of sounding exactly like Squeeze. Also the multi-talented Joe Jackson returns with his first album of new material for seven years. Album of the week though belongs to Lucy Ward’s very fine I Dreamt I Was A Bird.
